When non-powered trucks or pallet trucks are used for the moving of heavy loads, the greatest forces must be exerted during the navigation of uneven surfaces and movement of the load from rest. Even though such transport equipment makes normal transport operations much easier than manual load handling, these peak stresses may give rise to problems. This is particularly the case during tasks of intense activity in warehouse areas, where loads must frequently be moved from rest and braked again.

The Technical Report ISO/TR 22100-3 describes how ergonomic principles can be applied during the risk reduction process according to ISO 12100 and how ergonomics standards can be applied to machinery. It helps designers take decisions with respect to ergonomics during the machine design process and can also be used when no relevant type C standards are available.
