Problems |
Equipment such as non-powered trucks or pallet trucks is typically used for the handling of heavy loads. This equipment facilitates transport, but as a result of its construction, which is often solid, its own substantial weight most be moved in addition to that of the load. Depending upon the application, this weight may even exceed that of the load, and may therefore necessitate the exertion of high forces (see also EN 1005-3). |

Solution |
The use of new types of material enabled the weight of the pallet truck presented here to be reduced by up to 50% compared to that of a conventional steel pallet truck. This reduces the forces required for movement, particularly with loads of lower weight. |
Principle of operation |
Use of alternative materials in order to reduce weight and thus to reduce forces |
